📌 Objective

To eliminate and control bed bug infestations effectively and safely, in accordance with European legislation and Portuguese standards (NP), ensuring the protection of public health, occupants, and the environment.

🔍 1. Initial Inspection

• Identification of bed bugs (Cimex lectularius)
• Detection of signs:
  • Blood stains on sheets
  • Black spots (feces)
  • Eggs and shed skins
• Detailed inspection of:
  • Mattresses and bed frames
  • Headboards
  • Baseboards and cracks
  • Sofas and furniture

📝 2. Intervention Plan

• Definition of control strategy:
  • Chemical treatment
  • Heat treatment
  • Vacuuming and steam application
• Selection of EU-authorized biocides (Regulation (EU) No 528/2012 – BPR)
• Risk assessment
• Clear client instructions for site preparation

⚠️ 3. Site Preparation

• Washing bedding at ≥60°C
• Sealing textiles in closed bags
• Deep vacuuming of mattresses and carpets
• Disassembly of beds if required
• Clearing access to infested areas

🧪 4. Treatment Application

• Application of approved insecticides in:
  • Cracks and crevices
  • Bed structures
  • Baseboards and hidden areas
• Use of complementary methods:
  • High-temperature dry steam
  • Localized heat treatment
• Avoid direct application on prolonged human-contact surfaces
• Strict compliance with manufacturer instructions

👷 5. Safety & PPE

• Mandatory use of:
  • Gloves
  • Mask/respirator
  • Safety goggles
  • Protective clothing
• Compliance with NP standards and EU occupational safety directives

• Detailed service report
• Product safety data sheets
• Record of treated areas
• Client information on:
  • Re-entry time
  • Post-treatment precautions

🔄 7. Monitoring & Follow-up

• Reinspection after 10–15 days
• Re-treatment if necessary

• Preventive recommendations:
